What Is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the medical term for what is better known as a nose job or nose surgery. The nose is surgically altered to improve its appearance and/or functionality. When a person’s nose deviates from an ideal symmetry and design, this can have a radical effect on the overall appearance of one’s face as the nose is the focal point. Rhinoplasty can benefit individuals by refining the appearance of their nose, providing a better balance and symmetry to their face. Some of the reasons why people choose rhinoplasty include:

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed?
In some cases, nose surgeries can be performed with mild sedation and local anesthesia. In other cases, general (full) anesthesia and “twilight” sedation will be required to perform rhinoplasty.
Closed or Open Rhinoplasty Approach
Depending on the patient’s needs and condition, Dr. Kim will perform the nose surgery procedure by either what’s called an endonasal (closed) or an open approach. The open approach procedure is used when it is necessary to remove the outer layer of skin on the nose to make the necessary corrections. Many surgeons decide to use this technique, especially for patients who have a strongly disfigured or misaligned nose, or for individuals receiving a revision rhinoplasty procedure. The endo (closed) approach technique differs in that no incisions are made outside the nose, and all of the work that is done is performed via the inside.
