What is a Chin Implant?
Also referred to as mentoplasty, chin augmentations such as chin implants are used to strengthen the look of the jaw or to add symmetry. The implants themselves can be configured in a variety of sizes and shapes – tailor-made to either lengthen the look of the face or make the chin appear broader.
Results seen in this picture is achieved through combination of chin implant, face lift, and laser resurfacing treatments.
How is a Chin Implant Placed?
A chin implant is inserted over the framework of the lower jaw in order to enhance it or add to its dimensions. While dermal fillers, such as Restylane® or Juvederm®, can enhance the look of the chin temporarily, chin implant provides a permanent solution.
Who are the Best Candidates for Chin Implant Surgery?
Healthy individuals who desire “stronger-looking” chins are good candidates for surgery.
What Does the Procedure Entail?
A chin augmentation or implant may be performed by itself or along with other facial procedures, such as the Natural Face™ Lift or blepharoplasty. Before the procedure, the physician will select the correct implant for your face’s size and shape. Implants are typically made of silicone.
If the implant is manufactured with silicone, the surgeon will place a very small incision beneath the chin. The implant is then affixed to the soft tissue or bone before the incision is sutured shut.
How Long Does the Surgery Take?
Usually, the procedure itself takes no longer than 45 minutes to perform.
How Long Does Recovery Take?
Recovery requires little downtime. Patients usually feel fine 24 hours after the surgery although they are advised to rest. While you are recuperating, the doctor may recommend an over-the-counter or prescription medication. An antibiotic may also be prescribed to reduce any risk of infection.
How Much Does a Chin Implant Cost?
The costs involved with a Natural Face™ procedure can vary depending on the extent of the treatment necessary to achieve optimum results. Having our own private on-site surgical facility allows our patients to save money by including all the before and after care, operating room costs, and the local anesthetic fees together. Natural Face™ Clinics accepts all major credit cards. We can also assist if you need financing through CareCredit®. Please call and ask for our concierge services for assistance with financing.
