Otoplasty (Ear Surgery) Before and After Pictures
The ears should serve as a framework for one’s face, and not as a focus of attention. The protruding ears can be distracting and distruptive to overall facial harmony. Otoplasty is a procedure which resets the ears back to the normal position and reestablish the facial aesthetics.
This patient has always been bothered by the appearance of protruding ears. She underwent otoplasty (combining the Mustarde technique with conchal set back) with Dr. Kim. The picture on the right is about 3 months after the procedure.
This is a 31 year old patient who wished to improve the appearance of her protruding ears. There are several techniques to pin back the protruding ears. Individual patients will present with unique features which require specific techniques to address the problem. In this patient, the left ear presented with a prominent conchal bowl, while the right ear also had a component of underdeveloped antihelical fold. Pictures on the right are from 1 month after the otoplasty procedure.
